And the best member of the Sheen family IS…

September 2, 2013

MARTIN!

Darn tootin’.

Badlands alone was enough to win my vote and I still have yet to watch The West Wing. Sacrilege, I know. Doesn’t hurt that he’s a model citizen either. Seriously, what’s not to like about this guy? Gordon Bombay wouldn’t even exist without him! I rest my case.

Swell voting, folks. You done good.

RESULTS:
– Martin: 22 votes
– Emilio: 17 votes (think we’ve got some Mighty Ducks/Night at the Roxbury fans in the house)
– Charlie: 5 votes (poor, poor Charlie)
– “Barry”: 1 write-in vote (truly the unsung hero of the Sheen family)

Martin voices The Illusive Man in Mass Effect 2-3 .. he should win purely on the strength of that lone! Also Badlands.. wow it’s been far too long since I last saw that movie!

THE ILLUSIVE MAN! Easily one of the worst names for a character in a video game, but totally with you on the bonus points for Martin! Speaking of ME, LOVED the second one, but have only put in a few hours into the third one and am having a tough time returning to it. Should I keep at it or just go back to playing Fez like I have been?

And it’s always a good time to revisit Badlands. Thanks for stopping by!

TIM for short! It is a terrible name.

Keep going with the third one, it’s heavy going and down right depressing (especially after how fun and optimistic ME2 is).. but it has some really special and emotional moments in it, and your choices from the previous two games start to pay of, quite epically in some cases.. Erm, up to, you know, up the THE ENDING. It’s my favourite game up until the last 15-20 minutes.. the less said the better!

I’m doing a replay right now.. probably my last one! I don’t know if you have any DLC, but Citadel is worth it for ridiculous amounts of pure ME indulgence and fun times!

Favorite game of all-time, or favorite game in the series? Will probably keep going with it, I can’t quit now. Still, given what an inordinate improvement ME2 was from ME1 in every way, I’m tempering my expectations that ME3 will surpass it.

And yeah, I heard that about the ending. Didn’t they release some DLC that apparently “fixed” it after all the backlash it incurred, or am I just making that up?

All time.. but then the ending does ruin it! I have a really hard time deciding between ME2 or 3 (but then 1 has the best over all plot, it’s let down by Mako driving!). I haven’t enjoyed a game as a much as Mass Effect before or since, but then Dragon Age: Origins is a very close second. Very close. Depends which I’m playing at the time!

They released the Extended Cut.. it didn’t really fix anything other than add some cut scenes that attempted to provide some closure on everything they apparently missed out. But then I waited for that before I played. It made it a lot better.. but it didn’t fix the larger issues.. like the fact it doesn’t actually make sense if you think about for longer than 3 minutes! (Pick a colour.. Blue, Green or Red?)

        “Artistic integrity” my arse.

Anyway, don’t let that put you off! Ha! Keep going, it’s worth it! There are some really great moments with your squad mates, and I also think I enjoy combat the most in 3 (I do have a weakness for Biotic Detonations).

I truly hope you have a statue of Martin somewhere in your town. It’d be a damn shame not to.

Not a statue, but everyone knows where his picture is in his class picture at Chaminade High School (now Chaminade-Julienne HS). It would be nice to have a statue of him, though, along with Sr. Dorothy Stang. She grew up in Dayton as well, and she was murdered several years ago in Brazil because she stood up for poor farmers rights against the rich loggers. Martin Sheen narrated a documentary about it, I think it was on HBO. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.

Drop that knowledge!
