Cut The Crap Movie Reviews 
I like Inception a lot, but there are several other films on this list that aren’t nearly as problematic. Upon repeat viewings, sections of the film are just too heavily burdened with dialogue and exposition. Still a fantastic work, and I get the praise, but in years past I think other films will hold up better.
I agree, but I still can’t knock how much people dig it and what it stands for in terms of paving the way for Hollywood blockbusters with a brain.
Interesting. I ran a poll like this on my site a few weeks ago and was surprised that Inception won. Although not by nearly as large a margin. I think it’s a great film, absolutely. But I don’t think it’s the very best that the medium has put out this year.
Agreed. Not exactly surprised, but yeah, wasn’t my #1 either.
Can’t say I’m too surprised by this. Inception was probably my fave of last year.

I’m not surprised, but I am a little disappointed that Inception won. I liked it, but didn’t think it was one of the best movies of the year. At least Black Swan & The Social Network were second and third.
Yeah, Black Swan and Social Network were definitely a step above IMHO.

And frankly (since James brought it up), I’m getting a bit sick of hearing people bitch about “all the exposition and dialogue.” As if people would have loved the movie had Nolan left us all in the dark about what was going on. No, that movie came out already, and was called Dark City (or any number of Lynch flicks), and those aren’t exactly winning “best of the year” polls, are they? Flawed logic, perhaps, but it works for me. Let’s face it, it’s a complicated concept – some explanation was needed, and the visuals and action more than justified it all.
Well said, bud. This movie would have been a clustercuss without all the exposition and dialogue. Don’t see the problem either.
And I need to get off my ass and revisit Dark City already.
