And the best trilogy is…
I thought LotR had it in the bag with this one, but I am pleasantly surprised with this most epic of voter turnouts.
53 votes?
Jesus H. Murphy. All this typing and bloggery of sorts seems to be paying off.
RESULTS:
– The Lord of the Rings: 10 votes
– The Godfather: 4 votes (blame Sofia)
– Back to the Future: 3 votes
– Mad Max: 2 votes (blame Master Blaster)
– The Bourne Trilogy: 6 votes
– Star Wars IV-VI: 19 votes
– The Dollars Trilogy: 3 votes (single tear…)
– Other: 2 votes for Spy Kids (am I missing something here?), 1 vote for “Indiana Jones total counts… what’s this you say about a fourth movie? Hum” (unfortunately for all of us, there was a fourth movie), 1 vote for the Spider-Man trilogy (someone out there likes you, emo Spidey) and 1 totally awesome vote for the Evil Dead trilogy (cannot believe I didn’t include that from the get-go).
Well played, dear readers. And now to address that other trilogy…
I am glad it was episodes 4-6 and not the the “other” ones.
Honestly, you’re surprise here kinda baffles me. The original trilogy is the only, consistently entertaining series of movies that stays interesting no matter how many times you see them. Lord of the Rings is too long; The Godfather was ruined by Sofia (snaps on that comment, btw), and the novelty of Bourne wears off after multiple viewings.
I do think it would be hysterical, if not surprising, if the prequels win for worst trilogy. I voted for them, although you could make the case for any of them, except The Matrix. Yes, the last two were ass, but the first one was so friggin’ good that voting for it felt like sacrilege.
Yeah, that’s the trick with the worst trilogy, that there’s at least one movie of the bunch that does totally kick ass, well, except for The Mummy and Rush Hour and Underworld and Pirates (IMHO). And I really thought LotR would take it. I agree that Star Wars is the better trilogy by a long shot, but I feel like when people think ultimate movie trilogies, LotR comes to mind first. Way off on that one. Oh, and thanks for visiting, dude!
Good hussle, Star Wars! And I voted for Indy. Kingdom of the Crystal whatnow?
Wow! I’m shocked too. I voted for the Dollars trilogy, but expected LOTR to take it. Shocks all around.
