And the best Harry Potter character is…

July 18, 2011

SEVERUS SNAPE!

As partial as I am to Dumbledore and all the knowledge he drops from beginning to end, Snape is very much the man in both the books and the movies. Definitely gets bonus points for looking like Trent Reznor’s twin brother.

Swell voting, folks. Poor guy did not deserve the fate that befell him.

RESULTS:
– Snape: 13 votes
– Sirius Black: 10 votes
– Hermione Granger: 6 votes
– Harry Potter: 3 votes
– Albus Dumbledore: 2 votes (criminally low amount of votes)
– Ron Weasley: 1 vote
– Hagrid: 1 vote
– Voldemort: 1 vote
– Draco: 1 vote (whiney bastard…)
– Other: 2 votes for Neville Longbottom (easily the biggest badass of the last movie), 1 vote for Moaning Myrtle (nails on a chalkboard, yo), 1 vote for Remus Lupin (awesome), and 1 vote for Bellatrix Lestrange (what a bitch).

Damn straight, he is. Every time he’s on screen, you know something great is about to happen. Plus, I find him the most complicated, mysterious and intriguing character in the series.

Easily the most complex character of the series and Rickman totally rocked it to boot. Glad to see him finally get his due in this latest movie.

Aww missed this vote! Lucius Malfoy FTW!

Hahaha. That’s right, isn’t he your favorite movie character of all-time or something?

    well, my favourite hair, anyway

No love for Doby. You racists! 🙂

Hahaha. There was an “Other” section, homey. You, sir, are part of the problem.

No surprise here! But I have a weakness for Hermione…

    “That’s totally barbaric!”

    • July 18, 2011 3:55 pm

Hahaha. Can’t argue with that, Hermione’s the best of the three IMHO.

No question! Rickman gives the best performance of all the films, and absolutely rocks in DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2. I also have much love for Sirius, Dumbledore, Neville and Lupin

    • July 21, 2011 1:50 pm

Yeah, he really does, and there were some great performances over the course of eight movies. Also have much much love for those four, too. Think Dumbledore is my #1, got a weakness for outrageously wise characters.

    No kidding.

Rickman’s Snape is absolutely incredible. I might also give the prize to Gambon’s Dumbledore or to Radcliffe himself for completely embodying Potter, but I don’t think anyone’s as much fun to watch as Rickman.

    • July 21, 2011 1:54 pm

Yeah, Rickman’s definitely been the character to watch throughout this whole franchise. Hope this finally gets him recognized as the badass he is instead of just being “Snape” or “Hans Gruber”.

No doubts the most amazing character and the most interesting one. I didn’t read the books, just the movies, and even after the Half -Blood prince I believed and so wanted there must be more to Snape and it felt so good after Deathly Hollows-2.
I know just a character but Alan Rickman just rocked it to the core. One of the best on screen performances, so intense and so committed.
I suppose the name of Harry’s son sums up the whole discussion about the best characters.

    • July 27, 2011 2:41 pm

Oh, man. You gotta read the books. You have no idea how great Snape really is, but even just going off the movies, he really is the man and Rickman delivered way more than anyone else in the cast did from Sorcerer’s Stone on. Well said.

Drop that knowledge!
