The Greatest Movies That Made Going to the Movies Suck
May 20, 2010
Heya folks,
So we got us a bonus Thursday post thanks to our guy Mike over at You Talking to Me? and his blogathon about all those movies that kicked ass so epically hard that every imitator thereafter was doomed to royally suck. Neato idea considering we’ve all been forced to see at least one of those knock-offs in our time. So check it out and hope you dig my rant about why The Ring still scares the pants off me.

I saw it in the theaters, and I was still freaked, I can only imagine how badly it freaked you out. It was so good I bought it on VHS and then was too freaked out to ever open it up. I gave in away still shrink wrapped about a year ago.
Excellent movie, and great review of it.
haha, thanks. I wrote an actual review of it back in October, should probably link that up in the post somehow. What an effing scary movie.
I saw it with my best friend in high school, and seven days after that I called her to make sure she was still alive. True story.
I also bought it on VHS — back when Walmart still sold those — and never had the guts to open it. Also a true story.
Excellent summary of a really disturbing film!
I remember Channel 4 running a season of Asian horrors back when I was about 16 or 17. Ringu was included and it scared the pants off me. And then there was Audition, which gave me even more nightmares.
You’re right that the remake was new for American audiences, but I wasn’t too impressed by it, to be honest.
You, sir, are a titan amongst men.
I have a feeling we will say this about “The Dark Knight” in a few years. I called it in my review of “Iron Man 2.” Please let me be right and my foresight be lauded in years to come…

Congratulations on the nominations, by the by. Well deserved, sir. Well deserved.
Thanks, man! Gonna have to start shamelessly plugging myself like the sellout I am soon. Hooray for that.
You got my vote.
Oh, Fitz. I’ve always liked you.
