And the Oscar prediction for best Actress ’09 goes to…

March 1, 2010

GABOUREY SIDIBE!

Girl, you are having yourself one hell of a year.

Really have no idea who’s gonna walk away with it next week, but Gabby’s a solid pick if you ask me. That Precious had it rough.

Good voting as always, folks.

RESULTS:
– Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side: 9 votes (I should probably see this)
– Helen Mirren, The Last Station: 0 votes (still questioning whether this movie actually exists)
– Carey Mulligan, An Education: 10 votes (my vote)
– Gabourey Sidibe, Precious: 13 votes
– Meryl Streep, Julie & Julia: 4 votes (the one time where I’d probably be upset if Meryl won)

And now to finish out Oscar week…

You know, I don’t care if I won Best Actress. I don’t want Sandy to win. That’s it. If it happens, the Academy will be dead to me.

The Last Station exists. It just opened here. About time!

I blame Pete Hammond. If he hadn’t had put her performance as a must-see then no one would really think of it.

I actually thought she was pretty damn good, didn’t know until just now that Pete Hammond was on the Gabby bandwagon, too. But hey, as long as Sandra doesn’t get it, I’ll be happy.

That woman must be blacklisted by now. Apparenlty All About Steve was one of the worst movies ever made. Something is afoot…

Yep, this is the race that is really ticking me off. I mean, in the actor race Jeff bridges has really had it coming a while, so you don’t mind that Renner will probably get passed over and I could just about stomach a Clooney win.

In the actress race, if it isn’t Bullock, it seems it will be Streep. At this stage it feels like she’s using a loyalty card – “You have twelve nominations and are due an award”. As for Bullock, I don’t even understand this “She deserves an Oscar because she’s been around so long making rom coms” logic. It isn’t like you’re cashing in a roll of fairground tickets.

Drop that knowledge!
