Thanks, Adam. Appreciate the compliments. Actually had the banner custom made by a friend of mine recently, a graphic artist/novelist up in Maine named Ben Bishop (bishart.net). Didn’t cost too much and it’s totally worth it in my opinion, makes the site stand out. But yeah, highly encourage you to do that, and Ben’s always taking requests if you have any interest. That was a fun read!
I agree with you, but “The Hurt Locker” is still my number one choice among the Oscar nominees. “Basterds” would come as number two although I wouldn’t mind it winning Best Picture and I think “Up in the Air” is perhaps the most overrated, preposterous movie made last year.

Avatar and Up in the Air connected with me on an emotional level so I would like to see them win, but Hurt Locker & Basterds were both excellent films.

There won’t be any undeserving Slumdog winner like last year.

I read the debate and while you make a compelling argument, there’s no way Avatar is losing. I justr picked it on my site. I don’t think it should win. As MCarter said, the story was weak, which is unusual for a Cameron film. And I absolutely loved Basterds… even the stuff I thought would bug me, like Brad Pitt’s accent, I found thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately, with Oscars, it’s not always the most deserving film that wins!

A most impressive four-way duke-it-out, but I’ve gotta side with you — “Inglourious Basterds” was the whole package, with “The Hurt Locker” a very close second. The one with the plait-happy blue people lost major points for an unoriginal storyline.
